This was the day that Sandra, Rafa & Alex returned to Spain to spend some more time with Rafa's family. We drove to Frankfurt to drop them off at the airport and made a few stops along the way. We visited a church where some of Bryan's ancestors were baptized and stopped again for lunch. On the way back from Frankfurt, we toured the beautiful town of Heidelberg. We hiked up a steep cobblestone road to the castle ruins, walked along the river Neckar, drank beer in the town square and ate dinner at a nice Italian restaurant.
Here's a quick menu to the various picture sets:

Situated on the banks of the river Neckar, Heidelberg is one of Germany's most beautiful towns. Towering over the town, the majestic castle is really a vast residential complex that was built and repeatedly extended between the 13th and 17th centuries. Originally an extremely well-fortified Gothic castle, but now mostly in ruins, this was the seat of the Wittelsbach palatines.
