Germany Trip - May 20th, 2002

Tuesday October 04, 2005
We left Charlotte on Sunday, May 19th at 4:30pm and arrived in Frankfurt,
Germany 7 1/2 hours later. Brandon was a complete angel during the flight,
sleeping for several hours and making friends with all of our fellow passengers!
We landed at 6am local time, but to us it was only midnight. Bryan's Uncle
Bernd picked us up at the airport and we drove 2 hours to Oma's house in
Sindelfingen. After taking a few minutes to freshen up, we plunged right
into the sightseeing with a trip to the historic town of Rothenburg.
Having had very little sleep on the plane, we were all dragging by the end of
the day. Brandon adjusted to the time change flawlessly...he went to sleep
right on time & slept through the night without any problems.
Here's a quick menu to the various pictures sets:

This town's origins date back to the 12th century, but it's major growth
took place in the 15th century. Little has changed since that time and the
city walls still surround Gothic cathedrals and an array of gabled houses. Bryan's mother & uncle grew up in Rothenburg, so we were lucky to receive a
personal tour of their favorite places. We got to see where they lived,
went to school and played with their friends.

This is where Bryan's mom and her friends would play...they pretended that they were Celtic princesses looking down over their land. |
