Germany Trip - 2002

Brandon became an international traveler when we went to Germany this month to visit Bryan's grandmother and uncle. While we were there, we celebrated his grandmother's 80th birthday and toured the southern regions of Germany and parts of Austria.

Here's a quick menu to the various picture sets:

May 20th
  • We arrived in Frankfurt and drove to Bryan's grandmother's apartment in Sindelfingen (a suburb of Stuttgart)
  • We toured the historic town of Rothenburg
May 21st
  • We spent several hours in the Breuningerland Mall in Sindelfingen
  • We drove around Stuttgart and visited the Mercedes Museum
  • We had dinner at Uncle Bernd's favorite Indian restaurant with his friend Johanna and her daughter Karoline.
  • Sandra, Rafa & Alex arrived!
May 22nd
  • We drove to Ludwigsburg and toured the
    "Schloss Ludwigsburg" or Ludwigsburg Palace.
  • Next we visited a brewery and sampled the local beer.
  • We went out to dinner for Oma's 80th birthday
May 23rd
  • We visited the Haigerloch Castle
  • We toured the grounds of Castle Hohenzollern
  • We walked around the university town of Tuebingen
May 24th
  • We drove to the Frankfurt airport to drop off Sandra, Rafa & Alex
  • We toured the beautiful town of Heidelberg
May 25th
  • We left Oma's house in Sindelfingen & drove to Lake Walchensee, where we would stay for the next 5 nights.
  • We stopped in the quaint town of Oberammergau on the way.
May 26th
  • We toured the world famous Castle Neuschwanstein.
  • We made a few stops on the way back to Lake Walchensee.
May 27th
  • We covered a large part of Austria by taking a very scenic route through the Alps!
  • We toured the Austrian town of Salzburg.
May 28th
  • We made a few stops for shopping & lunch on the way to Munich.
  • We toured the concentration camp museum in the nearby town of Dachau.
  • We spent several hours walking around the city of Munich.
May 29th
  • We spent the morning enjoying the view of Lake Walchensee.
  • We visited the village of Andechs which is famous for its beer!
  • We stopped in Garmisch and then headed back to Lake Walchensee for dinner.
May 30th
  • We left Lake Walchensee to drive back to Oma's house.
  • We stopped at Lake Alpsee for lunch and spent several hours touring the beautiful town of Meersburg.
May 31st
  • Back to Charlotte!!
